Restore Your Smile
with Dental Implants

Missing teeth can make you feel self-conscious and keep you from smiling. Left untreated, gaps can cause discomfort and lead to other oral health concerns.

At Guaranteed Dental Solutions in Phoenix, AZ, we offer dental implants, an unparalleled treatment option for missing teeth that can provide lasting strength and stability.

So why should you consider dental implants?

Dental Implants Are the Best Way to Support Replacement Teeth

Built to Last

Dental implants are small titanium posts that support restorations. When placed by a skilled implant dentist like Dr. Ehsan Pourshirazi, they can last a lifetime with proper care.

Jawbone Retention

Implants act as tooth roots, providing the stimulation needed to prevent the jaw atrophy (shrinkage) that follows tooth loss.

Strong and Functional

Dental implants placed at our Phoenix office offer an unrivaled level of stability for your restorations, so you can chew, speak, and smile with confidence.

Let's explore how implants work...

If You Have Lost One or More Teeth, You Are Not Alone

So what can dental implants treat?

We Can Use Dental Implants to Address A Range of Issues, Including:

Severely Damaged Teeth

While Dr. Pourshirazi always tries to save natural teeth if possible, there are some situations in which removing a damaged tooth and replacing it with an implant-supported restoration is the best option.

A Single Missing Tooth

If you have lost a single tooth, Dr. Pourshirazi can place a custom implant-supported crown at our Phoenix office to fill the gap and restore a complete smile.

Multiple Missing Teeth

If you are missing teeth in a row or have lost teeth in multiple places, we can fashion an implant-supported bridge or another type of restoration to address isolated tooth loss.

A Full Arch of Missing Teeth

If you are missing one or both arches of teeth, Dr. Pourshirazi can provide a lifelike denture supported by traditional or All-on-4® implants.

Dental Implants Can Halt Bone Loss

Natural tooth roots are constantly stimulating the surrounding jaw tissue, sending signals to the brain. This process ensures that resources like vitamins and minerals are sent to the jaw to maintain healthy tissue.

When we lose teeth, these signals disappear and the jawbone no longer receives the resources it needs. By replacing tooth roots and teeth, implant-supported restorations stimulate the jaw and prevent tissue shrinkage, protecting the overall health of your jaw.

Wondering whether you qualify for implants at our Phoenix office?

Your Lifestyle and Health Can Affect Candidacy

Jawbone Density

If you have been missing teeth for a long time, you may not have enough tissue in your jawbone to support implants. However, you may still qualify for All-on-4 dental implants. We can also restore your candidacy using a bone graft.

Tobacco interferes with your body's ability to heal after surgery. Studies have shown that smoking increases your risk for implant failure, so we highly recommend quitting at least several months before surgery.

Periodontal Disease

Problems with the health of your gums can affect the stability of your implants. If you have gum disease, we can provide periodontal treatment before you undergo implant placement.

Health Conditions

Uncontrolled diabetes and issues with your immune system can increase the risk of complications after implant surgery. Be sure to discuss your health history with Dr. Pourshirazi.

Concerned about undergoing surgery?

Dental Sedation Can Make Your Procedure More Comfortable

At Guaranteed Dental Solutions in Phoenix, we offer both oral conscious and intravenous (IV) sedation. With sedation, you can feel relaxed and comfortable throughout your procedure. We can also use a local anesthetic to eliminate discomfort while your implants are being placed.

Precise & Highly Personalized Planning

The first important step in the dental implant process is proper imagining. You need a detailed “road map” to ensure that your implants enjoy a high success rate.

In implant dentistry, this is a cone beam computerized tomograph. For short, this may be called a CBCT, or CT. This CBCT allows the optimally sized implant to be placed and is a step that cannot be overlooked or bypassed. It is an absolute necessity. Once you have your road map, your surgeon can plan the placement of your implant.

In some instances, a laboratory fabricated guide will be necessary. Depending on your available bone, you may also need a bone graft. These are both things that will be elucidated in your CBCT.

Thanks to the advanced imaging technology at our Phoenix office, we are able to thoroughly plan your surgery for the best possible results.

The dental implant treatment process can span several months...

What to Expect: from Start to Finish

Dr. Pourshirazi

Your dentist tells you that you need a dental implant. You are confused as to what this is. What are the basics? You need to be an informed dental consumer. You need to know the procedure every step of the way before you begin.

First of all, a dental implant is a titanium screw that replaces a tooth root, nothing more, nothing less. What is done with this is up to you and your dentist. With proper treatment planning and placement, you can have the best single implant or multiple implants in Arizona.

CBCT machine

Next, with the CBCT information and a comprehensive medical and dental history, a treatment plan with timing can be developed. A patient’s health can adversely affect the treatment sequencing of dental implants and their subsequent restoration.

Now, you are ready for implant placement at our Phoenix office. On the day of placement, many single dental implants may be placed just like fillings under local anesthesia. If you are having multiple implants placed, you may want to consider some light sedation. You may want to consider the sedation just because the procedure will take longer and you will be there for a longer period of time.

Illustration of implant process

You will then begin the process of osseointegration, during which your implant will fuse with the surrounding bone tissue and develop a strong, sturdy foundation. After your implant or implants have healed for an adequate period of time during a recovery period, they are ready to be restored. A single tooth will receive a single crown and look just like original equipment. Multiple implants have a myriad of options.

Illustration of abutment

Once you are healed from implant surgery, you will come back to one of our Phoenix dental offices to receive your abutments. These specially designed anchors connect your implant posts to your new restorations. After this minor procedure, you will need a few days for your gum tissue to heal before you receive your restoration.

If you have many implants in a row, you can restore them as individual teeth, just like single units. If they are spaced apart, you can restore them like a traditional bridge. If they are spread apart across a jaw that has no teeth, they can be used to hold in a denture or a partial. And in most cases, you can keep them healthy with simple brushing and flossing.

There are special attachments that have been developed just for dental implants to hold in dentures and partial dentures. Better yet, if you don’t want to take your denture in and out every day, you can screw that denture down to your implants or have a single bridge or a series of bridges that span a jaw that was once completely without teeth.

Instructions for Your Recovery from Implant Surgery

Following dental implant surgery, it will take about four to six months to fully heal. Knowing what to expect during your dental implant recovery and following certain guidelines in the days and weeks immediately following the procedure can ensure your safety and comfort. Dr. Pourshirazi and our Phoenix team will provide you with detailed instructions regarding precautions you should take and when you should contact us with concerns.

Immediately after Surgery

For the first hour after your dental implant procedure at our Phoenix office, you will need to continuously bite down on gauze that has been placed over the treatment area. Exerting a slight but consistent pressure will help to control bleeding. If you need to replace the gauze Dr. Pourshirazi has provided, it should be moistened and replaced every 30 to 45 minutes until the bleeding stops. Depending on the type of sedation you received, you may also need a loved one to drive you home.

The First Few Days

It is normal to experience some discomfort for a few days following surgery, including:

  • Nausea
  • Sore throat
  • Dry lips
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Stiff jaw muscles

Ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication can be used to help provide relief. Typically, patients can return to work within two to three days.

When to Notify Your Doctor

There are several signs that you may be experiencing a complication, such as infection. Watch for:

  • Persistent bleeding for more than 48 hours
  • Severe swelling
  • Worsening fever after 24 hours
  • Excessive pain that cannot be controlled by medication

In the case of any of these symptoms, you should notify us as soon as possible.

General Recommendations

During the initial recovery period, there are some precautions that should be taken to promote proper healing, such as:

Dietary Restrictions

It is important to ensure that you are well nourished after your procedure at our Phoenix office. However, there are certain dietary guidelines that you should follow to protect the surgical site. We often recommend that patients maintain a soft food diet for a few days. You should also avoid using a straw (which can dislodge blood clots) or eating foods such as popcorn or strawberries, which contain small seeds.

Oral Hygiene Instructions

You can maintain your oral hygiene routine, however, it is crucial that you are cautious when brushing near your dental implants. You can also use salt water rinses a few times throughout the day to help keep the area free of debris. Once your implants have healed, though, you can maintain them with a normal brushing and flossing routine.

Typically, dental implant patients can return to work within two to three days.

Daily Activities

You should focus on resting and minimize strenuous activities for the first few days. You can typically resume moderate exercise about four days after your procedure. We highly recommend that you also avoid smoking during the entire healing period. Smoking can significantly increase your risk of complications.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

A healthy smile is one of the first and most important things we notice about a person. Consequently, this often makes missing teeth all the more noticeable. Dental implants are one of the most viable replacements available for your teeth. The benefits of dental implants are numerous: they look and function like normal teeth, allowing you to bite, chew, and speak with complete ease, while also stimulating the growth of jawbone tissue.

Benefitting Your Oral Health

When we lose our teeth, we also lose the regenerative signals that our tooth roots send to the jaw. When these signals stop, bone recession begins. The shape of your face will often change dramatically as your jawbone weakens. Implants are unique in that they replace both the tooth and its root so that the jaw receives restorative signals once more.

As a result, implants are often recommended over restorative options like dental crowns because they can:

  • Promote healthy tissue regeneration
  • Prevent jawbone atrophy and structural changes in the face
  • Protect surrounding teeth from shifting out of alignment

Most patients notice a considerable improvement in their oral health after receiving implants.

Providing Stability and Comfort

Dentures can easily slip while you eat or talk, creating uncomfortable sores, speech impediments, and awkward social interactions. Because implant-supported restorations are securely attached to your jawbone, you can enjoy all your favorite foods and activities without worry of your restoration shifting out of place.

Offering Durability

While dental bridges and dentures typically last about 10 years, dental implants are permanently attached to your bone and can last a lifetime with proper care. Implants are made from titanium, a durable and biocompatible material designed to securely bond with your soft and hard tissues. With your implant-supported restoration in place, you can enjoy restored dental function and realistic results.

Easy care makes it much easier to reduce the risk of periodontal disease.

Easy to Clean and Maintain

Dental implants are designed to function just like your natural teeth. Therefore, you can care for them in the same manner. Easy care makes it much easier to reduce the risk of periodontal disease, which is a bacterial infection and inflammatory disease that can lead to gum loss and other conditions such as heart attacks and diabetes.

Be sure to brush your teeth and implant-supported restoration at least twice a day. It is recommended that you floss daily, paying close attention to the base of the restoration. You may want to invest in a specialized water flosser to prevent food and debris from collecting.

Improving Smile Aesthetics

An implant-supported restoration from our Phoenix team is fashioned from realistic materials intended to match the natural aesthetics of your smile. They are designed to:

  • Fit tightly against the gums and nearby teeth
  • Blend in with your smile
  • Prevent facial sagging
  • Improve speech
  • Match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth

With your customized dental implant restoration in place, you can once again laugh freely, eat your favorite foods, and take greater confidence in your smile.

Because dental implants replace both the tooth and its root, they offer considerable stability, durability, and comfort over other restorative options.

Dental Implants Are an Investment in Your Long-Term Oral Health

Why Choosing the Right Dental Implant Dentist is Important

A significant amount of time and planning may go into your decision whether to improve your smile with dental implants. It is essential that you put the same thought into choosing an implant dentist, as well. A reliable, patient-centric dentist will not only greatly impact a patient’s long-term oral health, but can also lower the risk of complications while offering high-quality, long-lasting results.

At Guaranteed Dental Solutions, you will find an educated team of dental professionals dedicated to your safety and oral health. Dr. Pourshirazi completed his Masters in Oral Implantology at Goethe University and continues to educate himself about the latest developments in dental implantology.

Four Key Factors to Consider When Choosing an Implant Dentist

The following are factors that patients should look for when choosing a dental implant dentist:

What Is the Dentist’s Level of Experience?

It is important to note that any general dentist can call themselves an implant dentist and offer dental implant surgery. This creates challenges for patients who are looking for dentists with the skills and credentials needed to perform precise and safe implant surgery. Choosing a doctor with the best credentials is crucial for increased precision and better treatment recommendations. An educated and experienced dentist is more likely to have familiarity with dental implant techniques that increase comfort levels and ensure efficiency than a dentist who lacks implant credentials.

Dr. Pourshirazi completed his Masters of Oral Implantology at the prestigious Goethe University in Germany after graduating from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, with a degree in Biology. He also earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. He has made it his life work to master the skills necessary to perform countless successful dental implant surgeries.

What Type of Sedation Options Are Provided?

We understand that oral surgery is often a stressful experience for patients. Calming your nerves while ensuring your absolute comfort is a priority for us at Guaranteed Dental Solutions. In addition to local anesthesia, we provide oral conscious sedation and IV conscious sedation.

Do They Offer the Latest Dental Technology?

We use a state-of-the-art 3-D cone beam scanner to select the most ideal location for dental implants. This accuracy improves implant longevity, which means greater value for the patient. Precise implant location can also reduce the chance of implant failure and other complications.

Our advanced technology assists us in developing an individualized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs in order to provide desired outcomes. With it, we will include an approximate time estimate for the length of your treatment.

Is Financing Available?

While some insurance companies will cover implant procedures or a portion of the treatment plan, that is not always the case. Our knowledgeable insurance experts will review your plan in order to maximize your benefits. We are proud to offer CareCredit® or Springstone® to provide affordable monthly payment plans designed to fit your budget so you can receive the dental care you so desperately need.
